This is the story of Veronia and Berney, a wild boar and baby dear who are the most unlikely friends joined by a painful history.

When they were very young, both of the helpless animals lost their parents to hunters.

Boars and deers are considered invasive creatures, in Hawaii, Laurelee Blanchard, founder of Leilani Farm Sanctuary (LFS) explained.

As a results these animals are often the victims of hunting.

“Berney came to us as a young, wild boar and what we love about him is that he helps us dispel the myth that wild boars are mean and vicious,” Blanchard said. “He is the sweetest animal on the entire farm.”

Bernie always looks like he is smiling and loves giving the sanctuary’s cats piggyback rides.
